Is this a justification for suicide or mass suicide in the face of adversity? It would seem to be a message that has a sinusoidal acceptance and rejection. Certainly the post holocaust Jewish ethos rejects this approach. On the other hand, there is Massada, and those who killed their families in the time of the Crusades.
